<p><em>What do we mean by content?</em></p>
<p>‘Content’ refers to words, images, graphics, video and audio. Long or short. Fleeting or engaging. A blog like this, for example.</p>
<p>Publishing (or sharing) other people’s content, relevant to your customers, on your blog or social platforms, is great&#8230; You’re helping your clients reach things which are useful to them.</p>
<p><strong>But</strong>&#8230; creating your own is more valuable still.</p>
<p><em>Why?</em></p>
<p>Success lies in inspiring people to ‘share’.<br />
Share is why people use social media.<br />
Sharing lets people connect with new and existing networks and attempt to improve their social standing.</p>
<p>Make your content sharable within your market and you will enable people to do more of why they are connected to social platforms in the first place.<br />
<strong>And original is more sharable than referred content because it is new/exclusive/fresh</strong>. Of course, it also builds your brand.</p>

<p>Salon Advantage is, in our opinion, a field leading provider of hair and beauty salon management software. They supply approaching a thousand clients across the UK.</p>
<p>Colin Shove came to us in mid 2011.<br />
His business of ten years had suffered in the recession as salon clients struggled to meet suddenly much stricter credit requirements.</p>
<p>He watched a key supplier go bust and to compound matters had been sucked into a directionless company marketing spiral.</p>
<p>Our job was to clarify brand and approach to help Colin build revenue from existing clients and win new ones.</p>
<p>First up we set about understanding his brand, customer base and USPs.<br />
This led us to refresh the logo and brand in line with a premium product and service.</p>
<p>A refined colour scheme, font set and style guide, coupled with new photography, gave us the tools to create the framework for a new, super clear, message.</p>
<p>Website, brochure and sales material followed.<br />
All reinforcing the key messages, where we suspected Salon Advantage was strongest or even unique in the marketplace:</p>

<p>We drove traffic to the new website and refined message with solid SEO and supportive Pay-per-click. And Colin now receives regular qualified leads which are leading to dramatic increase in sales.</p>
<p>We were also tasked with improving communication and engagement with existing clients.</p>
<p>Salon Advantage needed to persuade existing clients to get more from their system, and in particular the inbuilt brilliant SMS marketing tools.</p>
<p>These tools are shown to both dramatically increase client sales and loyalty. And by reselling SMS Salon Advantage increase and diversify revenue too.</p>
<p>The SMS tools regularly give 1000%+ ROI.<br />
And Salon Advantage now has greatly improved communication tools with which to introduce the features and benefits.</p>
<p>Thanks to a committed and trusting client, In around six months we have been able to help reinvigorate the business with a coherent, market-specific identity and clear, highly persuasive, relevant message.</p>

<p>We recently won a pitch to develop a campaign to promote Sussex to Olympic visitors this summer.</p>

The challenges are plentiful, including:</p>

<li>Complex messages</li>
<li>Multiple destinations</li>
<li>Lots of competition</li>
</ul>
<p>Our plan includes developing a super clear identity for the campaign, helping it be highly visible amongst the multitude of messages greeting visitors.</p>
<p>But our pitch also scored big on innovation as we suggested blending <a title="QR codes - what is?" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code" target="_blank">QR technology</a>, and other tools to maximise reach and clarity.</p>
<p>The results you&#8217;ll have to wait to see. But following some poor press it should help make Sussex a destination with a lively and meaningful Olympic message.</p>

<p>So the opportunity to develop emerging China business further with a trip to Hong Kong and <a href="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Guangzhou,+china&amp;hl=en&amp;sll=53.800651,-4.064941&amp;sspn=18.409311,46.538086&amp;hnear=Guangzhou,+Guangdong,+China&amp;t=m&amp;z=10">Guangzhou</a> this week, meanwhile escaping the non-committal UK winter, was a no-brainer.</p>
<p>Apart from losing his smartphone (and let&#8217;s face it, Hong Kong is a great place to replace an iPhone), it&#8217;s already proving fruitful.</p>
<p>Established contacts, especially in food, booze and ceramics sectors, have been keen to sign us up to help raise UK and Europe profile, as well as conduct the essential pre-project research.</p>
<p>Brain&#8217;s also taken the opportunity to discuss some of our UK client&#8217;s products (including some rather smashing <a title="Norfolk Brew House" href="http://www.norfolkbrewhouse.co.uk/">Norfolk ale</a>) with importers hungry for western produce.</p>
